Bus travel around Northampton

Unibuzz Network
The Unibuzz Network is a network of inter-campus bus services that also operate to other locations around Northampton. The Unibuzz Network comprises bus services 7, 18, 19, 19E and 21. Here's a map and summary of the Unibuzz Network. Bus services 19, 19E and 21 run between Avenue Campus and Park Campus. Campus-to-campus travel is free on services 19, 19E, 21 & the 'Campus Shuttle' all day Monday to Friday for students and staff on production of a valid University ID card.

There is also a Free Travel Zone around the two campuses that allows students who live within approximately one mile of either campus to travel to/from the University for free all day Monday to Friday on the Unibuzz Network. A discounted fare of £1 applies for students and staff for any other single journey on the network all day Monday to Friday.

Northampton Buzz Card
If you regularly use bus travel - the Northampton Buzz Card is a ticket you can use for unlimited travel on most bus services in Northampton. The ticket currently costs £3.70 for a day ticket, £14.00 for a weekly card or £46.00 for a four week card. Northampton nightlife

Northampton has a lively nightlife with several nightclubs around town including Fever on Horseshoe Street and Balestra Bar and Club on Market Square.

The Wellingborough Road has many popular pubs, bars and restaurants. The Picturedrome on the Kettering Road close to the Racecourse and Avenue campus was Northampton's first purpose-built cinema in 1912. It has been converted into a distinctive venue bar with diverse entertainment programme, including hosting a comedy club on the last Tuesday of every month. The New Roadmender on the corner of Ladys Lane hosts gigs and club nights, covering everything from dubstep through drum n bass, house, techno, breaks and garage.

Sol Central on Marefair is home to a variety of entertainment and leisure facilities including the Vue Cinema. Other cinemas in Northampton are Cineworld located at Sixfields and the Forum Cinema located at Weston Favell.

Northampton Culture!

Northampton has two theatres located next door to each other – the Royal and Derngate theatres – it is the main venue for arts and entertainment in Northampton. The theatres offer two auditoria and Underground, a creativity centre that's home to the Youth Theatre and a wide range of workshops and projects for the local community. It has a diverse programme of work with everything from drama to dance, stand-up comedy to classical music, to opera on its stages. Some of the biggest names and shows on tour can be found here.

Northampton Museum & Art Gallery
is the home of the world famous shoe collection. It is located on Guidhall Road. A visit to Northampton Museum and Art Gallery will give you the opportunity to explore the amazing shoe collection recognised as a collection of national importance. You can also find out about the history of Northampton and see the excellent art and ceramics collection.

Abington Park Museum
- the museum in the park is a beautiful Grade I listed building. It is an excellent place to visit if you are interested in exploring things like the domestic life in the town, the costume collection or displays about the Northamptonshire Regiment.

Leisure Centres and Sporting facilities

There are three council run leisure centres in Northampton with gyms and swimming pools – The Mounts Leisure Centre in Northampton town centre, Danes Camp Leisure Centre and Lings Forum Leisure Centre. They all offer discounted membership for students.

Other sporting facilities include Benham Sports Arena, which offers a wide choice of indoor sporting activities including tennis, climbing , basketball, squash courts, archery, fencing, badminton and trampolining. The Nene Whitewater Centre is situated on the Bedford Road (A428) on the South East side of Northampton. It was the UK's first pumped artificial whitewater course. Activities include canoeing, kayaking and rafting.

Northampton is home to the Northampton Saints Rugby Club and Northampton Town Football Club (that's Cobblers!).
